...So I just thought I would post a little update. It's second semester at Dickinson now, and it's like, hailing? Maybe? I dunno, it's raining and there is tons of slush on the ground, but it hasn't snowed for a while. Anyway, not important. It will be my birthday on the 21st, which is three weeks from yesterday, so hooray!
In other news, um.....Last boyfriend = gone. He was a jackass. Funny how you don't realize these things until afterwards, but there you have it. Now new boyfriend = Jimmy. He is the nicest guy pretty much ever, very funny and silly. I don't know really how I can describe him, but he's awesome. We've been together for about two months now.
Not much else to report. My classes are:
Arabic 102 (woot woot!) Religion and Conflict (cool class) Bible and Contemporary Issues (most boring professor EVAR and it has a Christian bias, which is annoying) Creative Writing: Fiction (should be working on my story right now, actually) Self-Defense: Rape Aggression (HAMMER FIST! SPEAR STRIKE! PALM STRIKE!)
Anyway, still loving school, hooray! But that's about it. !مع سلام

Quick updates:
1. Our fire alarm went off in the middle of the night and everyone in Atwater had to go downstairs and outside to wait for DPS to come and fix it. Then we went back to bed. Two minutes later, it went off again, so we had to go outside again. It kept going off during the night. That sucked.
2. It was Miles's birthday on Monday, and we wrote a play for him and performed it.
3. I love college! Yay!
Love, Katie

Yesterday was an extremely eventful day, I must say. We actually didn't have very much Orientation stuff to go to, but partway into our discussion of the Common Film we saw on Friday, a huge storm hit. It was thundering and hailing. And then the lights went out in Bosler, the academic building where we were. So then we went outside into the hallway and continued the discussion for a while until this guy came and told us we had to go to the basement (tornado warning!). So we were all walking downstairs, and my friend Bryna and I were walking behind this one guy, and on the back of his shirt it said, "When the lights go out... We Keep On Going." So ironic.
Umm, also in our seminar is Griff, who is actually from Wales. I was talking to him for a while. I told him I have a Welsh Springer Spaniel and that I know some Welsh, so that was fun.
Then when we were downstairs someone told us that we could go back to our dorms because the storm hadn't really hit yet, but we had to hurry. Lots of branches and trees were knocked down, and you kept stepping on branches. But finally I made it back to Atwater, where Sahra was sitting in the dark except for her laptop. We started eating the ice cream we'd gotten at Wal-Mart that day, and we checked on our new betta fish (Voldemort, because he is black and red). But then we were told we had to leave Atwater because we had no emergency lighting.
So we went to the H.U.B. and sat around for a while playing cards. This guy named Miles came over with a girl named Kristen and they played chess in our light. Then they told us that if we knew someone in a dorm that had light, we could go stay with them. Since Danny's dorm, Buchanan, hadn't gone out, we went over there. But while we were there, the lights THERE went out, so we had to go back to the H.U.B. Then the H.U.B. lights went out! And we all had to go to Goodyear, which had normal power, even. They put us all (maybe 100 students) in the laundry rooms downstairs for a while. Miles and Danny found football mats, though, so they dragged them over there and we all sat down on them and played Ten Fingers. It was really fun. Around 2:00 a.m. a guy came up and told us we could go back to our dorms, but we were having so much fun we kinda didn't want to...
Anyway, we went back to Atwater and watched Hot Fuzz in Melissa and Kristen's room for about an hour, and then we went back into ours and went to sleep. All in all, an extremely interesting day!

| Posting from Dickinson! |

SO HERE I AM AT DICKINSON!!!
MAN! I really love it here already. This morning I was the first one in the dorm and it was all dark and stuff. My mom went to park the car. It looked like such a hole.
But then Sahra got here and we got to know each other. We're a lot alike, which is really cool. She, Danny, and I are like a trio or ummm something Sahra called us, I forget... but anyway, we are good friends already. And we decorated everything. We got some rugs to cover the wires and put a quilt on the wall and stuff on the beds to brighten it up. The part of the room with our beds looks like a cute little bedroom! It's so nice!
Not much else is really going on. Met a lot of people. Walked a lot of places. My legs kinda hurt, but other than that, I'm happy.
HOORAY!

I'm in Cape May right now, posting from the attic bedroom. Some neighbors have wireless, so I can access the internet. Hooray!
Umm, today we got everything I needed, basically. My room will be filled with things, plus my roommate.
Tomorrow we head for Carlisle! Danny is already there, yay. We will be having dinner with the Mulvies tomorrow night, and my grandma is coming...interesting...
Anyway, super excited. I encourage everyone who hasn't already to post about their college life. Yay for Livejournal!
